MOSCOW, July 16-RIA Novosti. The Almaz-Antey Aerospace Defense Concern will show for the first time at the MAKS-2021 Aerospace Salon an upgraded Wolf-18 drone designed to intercept and destroy mini-drones, the company's press service reported on Friday.
"Among the new products, the exhibition includes: the Wolf-18 drone hunter, the ROSC-1 radar-optical complex for ensuring the safety of objects and neutralizing drones, and the DMRL-3 mobile small-sized solid-state meteorological radar," the release says.
Earlier, in February, Almaz-Antey reported on the completion of tests of an upgraded version of the Wolf-18 interceptor drone, capable of finding and then shooting down or ramming enemy drones in fully automatic mode.
The expediency of this development in the concern was explained by the serious threat posed today by mini-attack drones - often ordinary quadrocopters with explosives attached. Such homemade drones were actively used, including by terrorists in Syria.
The basic version of the "Wolf-18" was first shown at the military-technical forum "Army" in 2019.
This year, MAKS-2021 will celebrate its 15th anniversary. The exhibition will be held from July 20 to 25 in Zhukovsky, near Moscow. All activities within the framework of MAKS-2021 will be carried out taking into account the requirements of countering the spread of coronavirus.
