According to NASA, the undocking of Crew Dragon Endeavour from the ISS Harmony module is scheduled for July 21 at 06: 45 Eastern Coast time
NEW YORK, July 15. /TASS/. Astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) will perform the docking of SpaceX's Crew Dragon manned spacecraft. As noted on Thursday on the website of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States, this is necessary in order to make room for another manned spacecraft CST-100 Starliner of the Boeing Corporation.
According to NASA, the undocking of Crew Dragon Endeavour from the ISS Harmony module is scheduled for July 21 at 06: 45 East Coast time (13: 45 Moscow time). The docking operation will be carried out by NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Megan MacArthur, European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Tom Peske and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Akihiko Hoshide, who arrived on it to the ISS in April. The spacecraft docks with another ISS module at approximately 07: 32 (14:32 Moscow time).
In early April, NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, Shannon Walker and Japanese Soichi Noguchi for the first time moved the Crew Dragon ship called Resilience from one ISS gateway to another. This was necessary for the subsequent docking of Endeavour with the space station.
The second test unmanned launch of the Starliner spacecraft to the ISS is scheduled for July 30. It is expected that the device will make a docking with the station in the evening on July 31.
The 13-ton Starliner is designed for a crew of seven people and an autonomous flight lasting 60 hours. The spacecraft was first launched on December 20, 2019 in unmanned mode to the ISS from the Cape Canaveral Air Base (Florida). The docking with the orbital complex was scheduled for December 22, but it was canceled due to technical problems. One of the reasons was called a failure in the flight time calculation system, as a result, the ship was returned to Earth.
Currently, there are seven crew members on board the International Space Station: Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Pyotr Dubrov, NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hai, Kimbrough and MacArthur, ESA astronaut Tom Peske, and Japanese Hoshide.
