TASS, July 15. The private space corporation Success Rockets has registered a subsidiary company SR Satellites LLC in Rostov-on-Don, which will be engaged in the production of satellites. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the company.
"On July 13, SR Satellites, a subsidiary of the Russian private space corporation Success Rockets, was registered in Rostov-on-Don," the press service said.
The representative of the company noted that SR Satellites is based in the technological coworking "Rubin". "Today, the priority direction of SR Satellites will be the assembly of small spacecraft, the tasks for which are planned to be implemented in partnership with the Arcturus center, "he explained.
The representative of the company said that the decision to open a subsidiary of Success Rockets in Rostov-on-Don was made following a working meeting of the parties in May at the Startup Village International Technology Conference in Moscow.
Production plans
"The production of small spacecraft is one of the priorities of our company. Small, but massive. Now our task is to master the competencies of mass production. If we are talking, for example, about our climate grouping, then we are talking about 60 devices, at least 36 devices will be required for the radar grouping, and hundreds of satellites will be required for the communication grouping," the press service quoted the head of Success Rockets Oleg Mansurov as saying.
He stressed that it is possible to implement the plan only in partnership with state and scientific organizations. "We are grateful to our colleagues for the support they provide us," he said.
In turn, the director of the Center for Space Technologies "Arcturus" Konstantin Gufan said that the popularity of the topic of new space initiatives is increasing every day. "The projects of Roscosmos, SpaceX, Virgin Galactic and many other companies set the trend of technological development for many teams around the world. I am sure that the joint work of the Arcturus Center and SR Satellites will allow us to produce competitive application solutions for a number of urgent tasks, " he said.
Anton Alekseev, adviser to the Governor of the Rostov Region, stressed that a new space industry is being formed in the region. "I am sure that only in joint work it is possible to launch the most daring initiatives in the field of space technologies," Alekseev said.
About companies
In October 2020, the new Russian private space company Success Rockets told TASS that it plans to offer its ultralight launch vehicles to potential customers for satellite launches. The maximum cost of one launch, depending on the type of missiles, will be $2.8 million.
The company also plans to produce platforms for creating satellites for various purposes. The SKIBR-CUB platform will be designed to create CubeSat satellites (ultra-small devices) that can be used for scientific and educational purposes, as well as for optical remote sensing of the Earth with a resolution of up to 5 meters and providing the Internet of Things.
The Arcturus Space Technology Center was established in 2020. The mission of the center is the centralized provision of technologies to the broad academic community for the implementation of applied scientific research and the formation of an actual scientific agenda for the exploration of near space, as well as the involvement in space research of a wide number of participants from regional scientific communities, universities, institutes, circle movements and schools. A separate direction and purpose of the center is to support projects in the field of space and digital technologies.
The Center acts as a technical consultant to a team of Don schoolchildren on the project of creating a space satellite that will be sent into orbit in November 2021 as part of the Agrosat project from the Firon ANO as the winner of the "Duty on the Planet" program of the Innovation Promotion Foundation.
