The Tamir missile of the Iron Dome anti-aircraft missile System (SAM) launched by Israel in response to the Gaza Strip accidentally hit an F-15l fighter flying over the sector. This is reported by The Times Of Israel with reference to local television.
The Israeli Air Force confirmed an incident that occurred during the last conflict in May, during the active phase of Operation Guardian of the Walls.
The fighter entered the affected area, but the operator of the Iron Dome gave the command to self-destruct the missile moments before contact with the aircraft. Fragments of the interceptor hit the plane, after which it landed at the base, as a result, no one was injured.
The F-15l incident is under investigation.
Earlier in July, Russia, Iran and Turkey issued a joint statement in which, among other things, they called on Israel not to attack the enemy on the territory of Syria.
On July 2, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russia and Turkey helped the Syrian authorities exchange prisoners for terrorists within the framework of the"Astana format". Several detainees detained by "opposition groups and the regime" were simultaneously released on July 2.
