TSAMTO, July 14. The United Engine Corporation of Rostec supplied two AL-55I engines with an increased resource to the Indian corporation HAL. They will be used for the final stage of certification tests of the Indian HJT-36 aircraft.

UEC has completed work on increasing the resource indicators of two delivered engines by 300 hours. During the work on the project, the design resource of the AL-55I engine was gradually increased. The engines have worked on the stands for more than 5,000 hours, and have also passed more than 4,500 cycles of equivalent-cyclic tests. The installed resource guarantees reliable operation of the engine during operation.

"After successful acceptance tests at the test stand in the presence of the customer's representative, the engines were shipped to HAL Corporation. The creation of the HJT-36 training aircraft is at the final stage of flight certification tests, which should confirm the compliance of the HJT-36 aircraft with the requirements of the Indian Air Force. Power plants with an increased resource will be used to complete this stage. There are also plans to increase the resource indicators for 16 AL-55I engines delivered earlier to HAL Corporation. In addition, significant work has already been done to organize the licensed production of AL-55I engines at the enterprises of the HAL Corporation, " said Yuri Shmotin, Deputy General Director – General Designer of the UEC.

AL-55I is a two-circuit turbojet engine. Developed by order of the Indian corporation HAL for the HJT-36 training aircraft.

The power plant has a number of advantages, in particular, its modular design ensures high manufacturability and low cost of operation, and a modern digital control system ensures piloting safety and ease of maintenance. The engine has a thrust index at the maximum mode of 1760 kgf. To date, the design life of the AL-55I engine is 1200 hours.

In February of this year, within the framework of the international aviation and space exhibition Aero India, the engine successfully lifted an Indian training aircraft HJT-36 into the air during demonstration flights.

The AL-55I engine will be presented at the stand of the United Engine Corporation at the MAKS-2021 exhibition, which will be held from July 20 to 25 in Zhukovsky, near Moscow.
