The National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation has published a video of the escort of the US Ares reconnaissance aircraft in the sky over the Black Sea.
A Su-30 fighter jet took to the sky for escort. After turning the foreign military aircraft away from the state border, it safely returned to the home airfield.
There were no violations of the Russian borders.
On July 11, Russian Su-30SM and Su-27 fighters also escorted a radio intelligence aircraft and a US Air Force reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea.
Earlier, on July 9, it was reported that during the week, Russian radar stations recorded 51 aircraft of foreign states that conducted reconnaissance near the borders of Russia.
Thus, 46 reconnaissance aircraft, as well as five unmanned aerial vehicles of foreign countries, conducted aerial reconnaissance along the country's borders. All flights were controlled by Russian radar systems. There have been no violations of Russian airspace.
On June 23, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, said that NATO's activity near the borders of Russia has significantly increased and is provocative. According to him, against the background of the collapse of the NATO arms control system, steps are being taken to promote infrastructure to the Russian borders. Gerasimov also said that the United States is withdrawing from the treaties in order to eliminate any restrictions in the development of its weapons.
