Salyut has completed the assembly of the unit for the demonstrator of the new VK-1600V engine

TSAMTO, July 13. The assembly of the drive unit box for the VK-1600V advanced helicopter engine demonstrator, which will be presented for the first time at MAKS-2021, has been completed at the Salyut production complex of UEC JSC.

The production complex "Salyut" of JSC "UEC" has been participating in cooperation on the VK-1600V project since 2019. The finished unit will be sent to the St. Petersburg enterprise of JSC "UEC-Klimov", where the engine is being assembled.

"The task of manufacturing and assembling a box of drive units with an oil tank is not new for us, but since the engine is promising, it uses advanced technological solutions that required a non – standard, new approach to the manufacture of the material part and assembly, "said Alexey Gromov, head of the Salyut production complex of UEC JSC.

According to the head of the production complex, at the end of the year the company will have to produce another prototype of the drive unit box, taking into account possible changes in the design that the developers will make based on the results of the first tests.

The VK-1600V engine in the 1200-1800 hp power class is designed for use on promising Russian-designed helicopters, in particular, the Ka-62. The VK-1600V certification will take place in 2023. Based on the VK-1600V helicopter engine, it is planned to create an aircraft modification for light regional aircraft.

The demonstrator of the new VK-1600V engine will be presented at the International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS-2021) from July 20 to 25 in Zhukovsky, near Moscow, as part of the general exhibition exposition of the stand of the United Engine Corporation (Pavilion C1).
