MOSCOW, July 11/ Radio Sputnik. Kiev awarded the captain of the British destroyer Defender, who previously violated the state border of Russia, with the Defender of Ukraine medal, RIA Novosti reports.
The solemn ceremony was held in the Odessa House of Officers after the end of the international exercises Sea Breeze.
On June 23, the ship crossed the state border of the Russian Federation near the Crimea and entered Russian territorial waters. He left after the border patrol guard opened a warning fire, and the Su-24M made a warning bombing along the course of the destroyer.
Large-scale military exercises Sea Breeze continued in the northwestern part of the Black Sea from June 28 to July 10. They were attended by 5,000 military personnel, 40 aircraft and 32 ships from 32 countries, including the United States and other NATO members, as well as Ukraine.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that the Crimean authorities did not rule out new provocations by Western countries off the coast of the peninsula.
