MOSCOW, July 9. /TASS/. Work on retrofitting the launch complex of the Proton-M launch vehicle (RN), which will ensure the launch of the Nauka laboratory module (MLM), has been completed at Baikonur. This was reported on Friday on the official website of the Center for the Operation of Ground-based Space Infrastructure Facilities (CENKI).
"The Proton-M launch complex at Baikonur has been retrofitted with new control and verification equipment to ensure the launch of the Nauka laboratory module," the report says.
According to the CENCI, the equipment is designed for receiving and transmitting telemetric information of the module, as well as for monitoring parameters during its preparation at the launch complex.
"The set of equipment is fully installed and debugged. Its autonomous and joint tests have been successfully carried out, " the center said.
As noted in the text of the message, the final stage will be the signing of the final documentation by a commission consisting of specialists from the Test Center No. 2 of the Yuzhny Space Center and the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation.
Proton-M is a Russian single-use launch vehicle. It belongs to the Proton family of space carriers, created in the early 1960s. Protons are used to launch various spacecraft into space, including navigation, military and commercial satellites, interplanetary automatic stations.
