TSAMTO, July 9. The Defense Research and Development Organization of the Ministry of Defense of India (DRDO) has successfully tested versions of extended-range 122-mm rockets for MLRS developed by the national industry at the Chandipur test site.
The flight of four munitions equipped with sets of measuring equipment was tracked along the entire trajectory using radar, electron-optical and telemetry systems. As stated by the Ministry of Defense of India, all the goals of the tests were achieved.
The developed version of the 122-mm extended-range RS will allow the Indian SV to hit targets at ranges up to 40 km. Other details of the development project are not disclosed.
The rocket-propelled munitions were developed by the DRDO laboratories located in Pune: the ARDE (Armament Research and Development Establishment) and the HEMRL (High Energy Materials Research Laboratory) Research Laboratory with the support of the production company M / s Economic Explosives Limited (Nagpur).
As stated, the improved ammunition should replace the existing 122-mm Grad RS.
