The Russian company " Baikal Electronics, known for its own-developed processors, will invest 23 billion rubles in expanding its product line.
According to the source, by 2025, production volumes will grow to 600 thousand CPUs. For comparison, by the end of this year, the company intends to sell 130 thousand processors. However, experts note that the company may face a lack of production capacity of TSMC, which will produce processors.
The upcoming CPU line will include the Baikal M2 models for desktop PCs, Baikal L for laptops and tablets, as well as Baikal S2, aimed at servers, supercomputers and data storage systems. What is important, the new products will be produced according to technical processes from 6 to 12 nm instead of the current 28 nm.
The specified CPUs will be based on the Armv9 architecture, but the company is also considering the possibility of developing solutions on the RISC-V architecture.
