The ship docked to the station in automatic mode

MOSCOW, July 2. /TASS/. The Progress MS-17 transport cargo ship, carrying more than 1.5 tons of dry cargo, fuel and air supplies, docked at the Search module of the International Space Station (ISS) on Friday. The broadcast is conducted on the Roscosmos website.

The ship docked to the station in automatic mode. The process was controlled from the Ground by specialists of the Mission Control Center, from the ISS - cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Pyotr Dubrov.

The Soyuz-2.1 a launch vehicle launched from the 31st site (Vostok launch complex) of the Baikonur Cosmodrome at 02: 27 Moscow time on Wednesday. About nine minutes later, the ship was launched into orbit. The flight of the Progress took place according to a two-day scheme.

The cargo ship delivered to the station 470 kg of fuel for refueling, 420 liters of drinking water of the Rodnik system, 40 kg of oxygen cylinders, about 1,509 kg of dry cargo, including various equipment and materials in the cargo compartment, including resource equipment and maintenance tools for on-board systems, stowage for space experiments, medical control and sanitary-hygienic support, clothing, standard food rations and fresh food for the crew members of the 65th main expedition.

Progress MS is a Russian automatic spacecraft that was created specifically for servicing orbital stations. It is used to deliver various cargoes to the ISS (fuel, scientific equipment, oxygen, water, food, etc.), as well as to adjust its orbit. Currently, there are seven crew members on board the ISS: Roscosmos cosmonauts Novitsky and Dubrov, NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hai, Shane Kimbrough and Megan MacArthur, European Space Agency astronaut Tom Pesquet, and JAXA astronaut Akihiko Hoshide.
