TSAMTO, June 30. The air defense units of the Russian military base in Tajikistan received 20 modern man-portable air defense missile systems (MANPADS) "Verba".
The Verba MANPADS are designed to destroy cruise missiles, UAVs and other aircraft on oncoming and catch-up courses. It is capable of hitting low-emitting targets under the influence of false thermal interference at an altitude of 10 to 4.5 thousand meters and at a range of 500 to 6.5 thousand meters. The automated control system allows you to find an air target, determine its characteristics and distribute targets between anti-aircraft gunners and fire weapons, taking into account their location, the press service of the Central Military District reports.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is the largest Russian military facility outside of its borders. It is located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It consists of motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications.
