The Soyuz-2.1 a rocket successfully coped with the task of launching the Progress MS-17 spacecraft with cargo for the International Space Station (ISS) into near-Earth orbit. This was announced on Wednesday, June 30, by the press service of Roscosmos.
"The autonomous flight of the Progress MS-17 cargo ship to the International Space Station will take place according to a two-day scheme, the docking to the Small Research module "Search" of the Russian segment is scheduled for July 2, 2021 at 04:02 Moscow time. Berthing is planned to be carried out in automatic mode under the supervision of specialists of the Mission Control Center TsNIIMash (part of Roscosmos) and Russian crew members of the ISS-65 expedition-Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Pyotr Dubrov, " the message published on the website of the Russian organization says.
In addition, it is specified that the spacecraft should deliver to the ISS 470 kg of refueling fuel, 420 liters of drinking water, 40 kg of air and oxygen in cylinders and 1.5 thousand kg of equipment and materials in the cargo compartment.
The Soyuz-2.1 a rocket launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on the same day, and this is the second launch of a Russian cargo ship this year.
Earlier, on June 28, Roscosmos reported that the Soyuz-2.1 b carrier rocket with 36 British OneWeb satellites was installed on the launch pad of the Vostochny cosmodrome. The rocket launch is scheduled to take place on July 1 at 15: 48 Moscow time. Roscosmos reported on June 10 that the next batch of 36 OneWeb spacecraft arrived at Vostochny.
