As [...] the TASS news agency reported on June 28, 2021, the successful launch of the latest intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) developed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering (MIT, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) took place from the 1st State Test Cosmodrome (Plesetsk) of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. This was reported to TASS by a source in the military-industrial complex.

"In mid-June, the latest unique ballistic missile developed by MIT was successfully launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome," he said.

TASS does not have an official comment from the MIT.

On the part of bmpd, we recall that earlier it was reported that on September 5, 2019, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed a state contract for the Osina-RV ROC to create a new 15P182 strategic missile system, for which the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering Corporation (MIT) acts as the lead developer. The 15P182 missile system is being created as an upgrade of the existing variants of the Yars-M combat missile system with the 15P180 and 15P181 indexes.

Flight tests of the 15P182 rocket complex in a stationary (mine) version were planned at the Plesetsk cosmodrome in 2021-2022, with at least two launches along the Mirny-Kura highway. For this purpose, the mine launcher (SHPU) 15P765-35 at the Yuzhnaya launch pad of the 1st State Test Cosmodrome was subject to revision to SHPU 15P782-35 according to resource-saving technology.

The insignificant amount of modifications to the launcher means that any of the existing missile regiments of the Strategic Missile Forces with missile systems developed by MIT can be subsequently re-equipped with the 15P182 complex, starting with the already obsolete Topol-M and ending with the latest Yars-M.

According to another assumption, on June 10, 2021, the first test launch of a new command rocket of the Sirena-M command missile complex, made on the basis of the Yars-M missile complex, was made from Plesetsk.
