Development in It will take at least ten years for the Russian instrument-making industry to create 5G networks. However, the first implementation of domestic infrastructure components may take place before 2023. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Competence Center of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) for Wireless Communication Technologies and the Internet of Things at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology Dmitry Lakontsev at the conference "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia" (CIPR). Among the elements necessary for the development of 5G technologies in the country, the expert called the presence of a vendor organization that could create a comprehensive solution for network operators, as well as an increase in the number of developers in this area from several hundred to tens of thousands, the development of a regulatory framework and additional state support measures.
He also added that the first implementations of domestic components of the 5G network infrastructure are expected in 2023-2025, and possibly even earlier.
