SPMBM "Malachite" revealed details about the "Serval" submarine of the "Piranha" family at the International Naval Salon-2021.
The project was developed on an initiative basis for export promotion. The main advantage of the developers is an air-independent power plant (VNEU) based on a gas turbine generator. When moving under water, such a VNEU operates in a closed cycle using liquid oxygen reserves.
"Serval" is intended for sabotage operations. The submarine has a lock chamber for swimmers to exit, as well as a super-small submarine of the Triton family.
The development of new submarines by Malachite became known from the annual report for 2020, Flotprom reports. The design bureau formed the appearance of the Gorgon nuclear submarine and the Serval submarine with the VNEU.
