ST. PETERSBURG, June 25. /TASS/. NIIDAR specialists have developed a mobile radar station on an initiative basis to solve civil socio-economic tasks to control a 200-mile economic zone. This was announced in an interview with TASS at the MVMS-2021 by the designer of the NPC NIIDAR Mikhail Skolotnev.
"To solve civil problems, NIIDAR specialists have developed a surface wave radar "Laguna-I". An island state with access to the Pacific and Indian Oceans became interested in the product. The country is interested in the Russian radar station to solve the tasks of preventing drug smuggling and transportation through the straits," he said.
As Skolotnev explained, initiative work on the Laguna-I radar station was started at the institute in 2019. The radar has a range of up to 200 km, detects surface targets and is autonomous and sufficiently mobile. "This radar station can be quickly rolled up, relocated to the desired region, deployed and operated in the absence of network electricity," the designer noted.
