Work on a vaccine against coronavirus infection in the form of chewing gum is on schedule. This was announced on Thursday, June 24, by the head of the 48th Central Research Institute (Central Research Institute) of the Russian Armed Forces Defense Forces (AF) troops developing the vaccine, Colonel of the medical service Sergey Borisevich.
"The work is underway. There is no talk about the clinic yet, " he said during a conversation with journalists.
Borisevich also did not rule out that the vaccine may enter civil circulation, however, according to him, it depends on the quality of development.
Earlier, on June 18, it became known that the Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense began developing a drug against coronavirus infection in the form of chewing gum. It was noted that upon completion of the tests, the drug will be included in the treatment and prevention regimens of COVID-19.
At the same time, on June 23, the Russian government announced that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin had instructed to allocate funds from the reserve fund for medicines to combat coronavirus infection by June 25. He also recommended that the authorities of the country's regions form a sufficient reserve of beds for patients with the virus.
A large-scale vaccination against COVID-19 has been taking place in Russia since January 18. Vaccination is done free of charge to everyone. At the moment, four drugs for coronavirus are registered in the country: Sputnik V, Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona and KoviVak.
