The United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) will launch the latest M90FR gas turbine engine designed for use in power plants of frigates and corvettes on the world marine equipment market. This was announced to TASS during the International Naval Salon by Viktor Polyakov, Deputy General Director-General Designer of the UEC.
"The registration of advertising passports for the export version of the M90FR engine is underway," Polyakov informed.
According to him, the M90FR engine can be modified in accordance with the requirements of potential customers. "It is possible that small modifications of the engine components will be required in order to link it to the ship systems of a specific ship project," the UEC general designer added.
The M90FR gas turbine engine (GTD) with a capacity of 20 MW (27,500 hp) is used as part of the power plant of the Admiral Gorshkov type frigate Project 22350. A separate modification of the engine was created for installation on corvettes of the project 20386. A special feature of the new Russian marine gas turbine engines is the increased efficiency and reliability indicators, additive technologies are actively used in their production.
