The ADS is built according to the "bull-pop" layout principle, which provides a shorter length of the machine, better balancing, and also eliminates the need for unfolding and folding the butt
ST. PETERSBURG, June 24. /TASS/. The holding company "High-Precision Complexes "(part of the Rostec State Corporation) has started mass production of the latest two-medium automatic ADS. This was announced to TASS during the International Naval Salon (MVMS-2021) by the director of the Central Design and Research Bureau of Sports and Hunting Weapons (TSKIB SOO, part of the High-Precision Complexes holding) Alexander Starostin.
"Serial production of a special two-medium automatic has already begun," Starostin informed. According to him, after the feedback received during the pilot operation, the ADS is being modernized. "According to the results of the pilot operation, changes have been made aimed at improving the convenience of its operation," the head of the CCIB SOO added.
The ADS is built according to the "bull-pop" layout principle, which provides a shorter length of the machine gun compared to traditional schemes with the same barrel length, better balancing, and also eliminates the need for unfolding and folding the butt.
The machine gun on land can fire the entire range of conventional cartridges 5. 45x39 mm. For underwater shooting, TSKIB SOO has developed special PSP and PSP-UD cartridges in the same dimensions-5. 45x39mm. Thus, the machine uses the standard 30-charge magazines from the AK-74 for both types of ammunition. It is equipped with a standard 40-mm under-barrel grenade launcher. A Picatinny rail is also installed for the use of various types of sights, a device for silent shooting can be used.
It is assumed that the ADS will replace the underwater special automatic APS, developed in the late 1970s.
The International Naval Salon takes place from 23 to 27 June in St. Petersburg.
