A Russian Su-30SM fighter jet escorted a US spy plane over the Sea of Okhotsk on Wednesday, June 23. This was reported in the National Center for Defense Management (NCDF). Russian radar stations have detected an air target approaching the Russian state border over the Sea of Okhotsk.
To identify it and prevent the violation of the state border of Russia, a Su-30SM fighter from the duty forces for the air defense of the Eastern Military District was lifted into the air. "When approaching, the crew of the Russian fighter identified an air target-it turned out to be a strategic reconnaissance aircraft RC-135 of the US Air Force. Our fighter plane escorted an American plane over the Sea of Okhotsk, " the NTSU said.
After the turn of the foreign military aircraft, the Russian fighter returned to the home airfield. It is noted that there were no violations of the state border of the Russian Federation.
Recall that on June 23, the British destroyer Defender invaded the territorial waters of Russia for three kilometers. The incident occurred near Cape Fiolent, located in the suburbs of Sevastopol. Russian border guards and military pilots had to shoot to drive away the foreign ship.
