Moscow. June 23. INTERFAX-The deployment of attack missiles and missile defense systems in the Asia-Pacific region will pose a danger to the eastern regions of the Russian Federation, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"Today, the situation is complicated by the fact that after the US withdrawal from the Russian-American treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter - range missiles, any restrictions on the creation and deployment of missiles of this class, including in Asia, have been eliminated," Shoigu said on Wednesday at an international security conference in Moscow.
"From a military point of view, the combination of an attack missile component with anti-missile defense means can change the balance of forces not only in the region, but also around the world. If the decision on the deployment of medium-range missiles is made, then this situation will also pose a danger to the eastern regions of the Russian Federation," Shoigu said.
