Moscow. June 19. INTERFAX-The Russian Black Sea Fleet has sent 1.5 thousand troops to help the population of Crimea, which was affected by flooding, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.
"The Russian Defense Ministry has increased the group involved in providing assistance to residents of the Republic of Crimea affected by the emergency situation caused by prolonged precipitation. To provide assistance to the affected settlements, the grouping of the Black Sea Fleet forces has been strengthened to 1.5 thousand people and more than 120 units of automotive and special equipment, " the military department said in a statement.
The Ministry of Defense reported that the military personnel of the Black Sea Fleet carry out the supply of drinking water and essential products, clear the rubble, help in cleaning households, transporting personal belongings of residents.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the mobile detachments that perform tasks to eliminate the consequences of flooding include heavy-duty cross-country vehicles, tank cars for the supply of drinking water, and engineering equipment.
"Mobile detachments arrived in the cities of Yalta, Kerch and Oliva and began to perform tasks in cooperation with the interdepartmental operational headquarters for the elimination of the consequences of the emergency situation created by the authorities of the peninsula," the report says.
The Crimean leadership turned to the military for help.
