Specialists of the Russian Ministry of Defense have started developing a new drug aimed at combating coronavirus infection. It is noteworthy that it will not be in the form of tablets or injections, but in the form of chewing gum.
The military expects that such a convenient and affordable form of the drug, along with its effective and useful properties, will provide a positive effect in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
As a source close to the military department told RG, the 48th Central Research Institute of the Russian Defense Ministry's RCB-Protection Troops was engaged in the development of the new tool. Recall that this institution, together with the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N. F. Gamalei, developed a recombinant vaccine against coronavirus infection "Sputnik V", which became the world's first anti-coronavirus vaccine.
It is specified that the new mucosal vaccine against COVID-19 developed by military specialists will be not only in the form of chewable tablets, but also pastilles.
"Upon completion of the trials, the new vaccine is planned to be included in various treatment regimens and used as a supplement to existing mechanisms for the use of preventive medicines," the source explained.
