TSAMTO, June 16. The Lebanese Armed Forces received 60 B80VJ SUVs with a 4x4 wheel formula from BAIC and 40 Sinotruk Howo trucks as part of the military assistance provided by China.
According to Defense News, the handover ceremony took place on June 11 at the logistics brigade headquarters in Baabda in the presence of Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Qian Minjian and Defense Attache Brigadier General Zheng Yuchong.
The B80VJ is a 4x4 vehicle developed and manufactured by the Chinese company Beijing Auto. It can be used as a command vehicle, transport, light strike vehicle and, according to the plan, should increase the mobility of the Lebanese Armed Forces. The B80VJ can be equipped with a machine gun or a light missile system. The equipment transferred to the Lebanese Armed Forces is not armed. Howo is a four-wheel drive military tractor produced by the Chinese company Sinotruk.
As planned, the equipment will not be transferred to a specific brigade, but will be distributed among the units to provide transportation and training. According to the source, the aid package does not include spare parts for cars. For this reason, eventually, Lebanon will have to buy them in China.
