MOSCOW, June 16. /TASS/. Rostec confirmed plans to create a two-seat export modification of the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, noting that the Russian aircraft may become the first of its kind in the world.
"Such a machine can be used in training pilots to reduce the psychological burden of inexperienced pilots, as well as to perform long flights over undirected terrain. Recall that no country in the world has two-seat fighters of the 5th generation today, "Sukhoi" can become the first, "the press service of the state corporation "Rostec" told reporters on Wednesday.
Earlier on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said during a working trip to Primorsky Krai that the Russian Defense Ministry and Sukhoi Design Bureau are planning to develop a two-seat version of the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter in the export version. According to him, the cabin for two pilots will expand the export demand for this aircraft.
As Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev reported in early June, five Southeast Asian countries are now showing interest in the Su-57.
The Su-57 is a 5th-generation Russian multi-role fighter. Designed to destroy all types of air, ground and surface targets. It has a supersonic cruising speed, internal fuselage armament, radio-absorbing coating, as well as the latest complex of onboard equipment. By the end of 2024, the Russian Aerospace Forces will receive 22 Su-57 units, and by 2028, their number in the Russian Armed Forces will be increased to 76 units.
