In addition, the Marathon satellite system will begin trial operation in 2023

MOSCOW, June 15. /TASS/. The Gonets satellite communication system is planned to be developed and nine more spacecraft will be launched in the next two years. This was announced by Maxim Diordiev, Head of the Satellite Systems Application Directorate of JSC "Satellite System "Gonets", at the "Sphere" congress within the framework of the XIV International Navigation Forum in Moscow.

"We will not wait for the Gonets-2.0 system, we will continue development until 2025, and in the next year or two, we plan to launch nine new spacecraft that are already ready for launch," he said.

At the same time, according to Diordiev, by 2025, the Gonets-2.0 system of 28 devices will be created, which will allow for the first time in Russia to have a domestic voice satellite communication.

In 2019, the General director of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, announced the creation of a system with a new generation of satellites, Gonets, which will be focused on providing Internet of Things services. The new "Messenger" will provide mobile satellite communication services. The deployment of the system is planned to begin in 2025, the orbital grouping will consist of 28 spacecraft spaced in four planes, seven vehicles in each. The launches are planned to be carried out with the help of Soyuz-2 missiles.

Satellite system "Marathon"

The domestic satellite system "Marathon", designed for Internet of Things services, will be launched in a pilot mode in 2023-2024. This, in turn, was announced by the chief designer of JSC "Visat-Tel" Valentin Anpilogov.

"It is planned that in 2023-2024, pilot zones of this system will be created and in the period 2024-2027, a full-time system and an orbital grouping consisting of at least 264 microsatellites will be created and the global provision of services will be ensured," he said.

The Russian satellite system " Marathon "for the provision of Internet of Things services, which will be included in the" Sphere "program, is being developed by the Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems company (part of the state Corporation" Roscosmos").

The Sphere Congress is being held at Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow as part of the XIV International Navigation Forum.
