TSAMTO, June 15. As reported by TSAMTO, on May 24, the Polish Ministry of Defense announced the signing of a contract for the purchase of four sets of Bayraktar TB2 MALE class attack UAVs of Turkish production for the country's Armed Forces.
The contract signed without a tender, the information about which is limited, caused a lot of questions from the public and the media in Poland. In particular, the Altair news agency, in accordance with the "Law on Access to Public Information", asked the Polish MNO Weapons Inspectorate to disclose the details of the agreement, including the total purchase price, the number of MAM-L and MAM-C ammunition ordered and their cost, the type of engine, radar and EO cameras that the UAVs are equipped with, the contractors who will service the received equipment, as well as the need for urgent purchase of UAVs.
On June 14, the Altair agency received answers to some of the questions raised, which were listed on its website.
According to the representative of the inspectorate, Major Krzysztof Platek, in accordance with the concluded agreement, spare parts and consumables were purchased for 3 years of operation in accordance with the estimated average flight time of one platform.
The supplier of the simulators will be Baykar Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A. S., and the training of personnel will be carried out before the delivery of the complexes in the volumes that ensure their correct operation.
The EO surveillance stations of the Bayraktar TB2 UAV will be produced outside of Turkey in "one of the NATO countries".
Maintenance and repair of components, including engines, ground control stations and cameras, under the technology transfer agreement will be carried out by a division of the Polish Ministry of National Defense.
The reasons for the urgent purchase of UAVs are specified in a secret statement on the procurement procedure and are not disclosed.
As stated, the rest of the requested information is a trade secret and its disclosure and further use will constitute an act of unfair competition in accordance with Article 11 of the Law of April 16, 1993 "On Combating Unfair Competition".
As previously reported by CAMTO, the contract signed by the Polish MNO with Baykar Makina provides for the supply of 4 unmanned systems, each of which includes 6 armed Bayraktar TB2 UAVs (24 UAVs in total), as well as anti-tank missiles, related equipment, including mobile control stations, radars, simulators, a set of spare parts, as well as the provision of maintenance and training services for personnel. The cost of one set of "Bayraktar TB2" is about $ 67 million. The contract provides for the provision of a 24-month warranty, as well as the transfer of technologies that allow for the maintenance and repair of equipment, including engines, ground control stations and cameras.
The first set will enter service with the Polish Armed Forces in 2022. The contract will be accompanied by a compensation agreement related to the services that will be performed by one of the Polish military enterprises. The contract will be fully executed by the end of 2024.
