Moscow. June 9. INTERFAX-The Myanmar military delegation came to Russia to get acquainted with the production of the Pantsir air defense systems, an informed source told Interfax.
"Recently, a military delegation from Myanmar came to Russia to visit the manufacturing plant of the Pantsir missile defense system to see the stages of production," the source said.
He noted that the visit to the plant is provided for by the previously signed contract for the supply of these air defense systems.
As reported by Interfax, in January, during a visit to Myanmar by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, an agreement was signed on the supply of short-range Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun systems (ZRPC) to Myanmar, as well as Orlan-10E reconnaissance drones and radar stations.
On January 20, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said that Myanmar could receive Russian - made aircraft and armored vehicles, as well as air defense systems, in the coming years.
"Russia has already delivered MiG-29 and Yak-130 aircraft, Mi-17 and Mi-24 helicopters to Myanmar. In the coming years, the possibility of supplying other samples of modern aviation equipment, armored vehicles, and Russian-made air defense systems is being considered, " Fomin said in an interview with RT.
In 2018, an agreement was reached between Russia and Myanmar on the purchase of six Su-30 aircraft.
The Myanmar armed forces have Russian-made military equipment: Mi-24, Mi-35 and Mi-17 helicopters, MiG-29 fighters, Yak-130 combat training aircraft, and Pechora-2 anti-aircraft missile systems. Military personnel from this country are trained in Russian military universities.
