The competition for the performance of research works was won by the head scientific institute of Roscosmos-TsNIIMash
MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. Russia plans to consider the possibility of using artificial intelligence (AI) to solve the problems of the orbital group of remote sensing of the Earth (ERS), follows from the materials posted on the public procurement portal.
According to the terms of reference, it is planned to conduct research work (code "Neurobort") to create a foundation for the development of an on-board intelligent computing complex.
"Tasks, the solution of which ensures the achievement of the set goal: analysis of the current state and prospects of development in the field of application of AI technologies, including machine learning, on board spacecraft (spacecraft-approx. TASS) to solve the target and other tasks of the multi-satellite orbital group of remote sensing, " the document says.
According to the technical task, it is planned to create a list of tasks to be solved by artificial intelligence directly on board spacecraft, to develop proposals for the architecture of neural networks that can process images on satellites. Specialists will also have to justify the possibility of managing a multi-satellite constellation based on the principle of self-organization using artificial intelligence technologies.
The competition for the performance of research works was won by the main scientific institute of Roscosmos-TsNIIMash. He will also have to develop a draft technical task for development work on the development of a prototype of an on-board computer system using artificial intelligence technologies. The work must be completed by June 30, 2023.
