According to the head of the Military Medical Academy named after S. M. Kirov Yevgeny Kryukov, vaccination of military personnel is almost finished
ST. PETERSBURG, June 6. /TASS/. Russian military personnel have developed a collective immunity to the coronavirus as a result of a successful vaccination campaign. This was announced by the head of the Military Medical Academy named after S. M. Kirov Yevgeny Kryukov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"The Ministry of Defense has now completed the formation of collective immunity. And this is one of the achievements of military medicine, " Kryukov said.
According to him, the vaccination of military personnel is almost finished. With its voluntary nature, it was easier than for civilians. "They [the military] are responsible people, they protected themselves, their families," he said.
The head of the academy stressed that many medical developments for the treatment of coronavirus were first used in the Ministry of Defense.
"We used glucocorticoids for the first time in the ministry for the treatment of coronavirus infection. For the first time, we started using plasma from patients who had recovered. Together - the same developments were also carried out by the Moscow Healthcare. But for the first time, the Ministry of Defense started using the plasma of patients who were vaccinated," he explained.
Effectiveness of vaccinations
According to Kryukov, a study conducted by military doctors showed the effectiveness of vaccination of patients with coronavirus.
"People who have had the coronavirus more than six months ago, get sick again. We at the Ministry of Defense conducted a very interesting study on the possibility of vaccination for patients who previously had coronavirus. We have proven its extremely high effectiveness and immunogenicity, " Kryukov said.
He stressed that those who have been ill with coronavirus tolerate vaccination no worse than those who have not been ill.
Kryukov noted that the agency uses only the Sputnik V vaccine. "In our opinion, this is an extremely effective vaccine and, let's just say, they are not looking for good from good," he concluded.
