On Friday, the press service of the Northern Fleet reported about an American air reconnaissance aircraft that was barraging near the border of the Russian Federation in the sky over the Barents Sea. The alien plane was detected by our air control systems.
"To identify an air target and prevent violations of the state border of the Russian Federation, a MiG-31 fighter from the Northern Fleet air defense forces on duty was lifted into the air," the military informed.
It was said that the crew of the Russian fighter identified the air target as a US Air Force P-8A Poseidon base patrol aircraft and escorted it over the Barents Sea. And after the American crew turned away from our borders, the MiG-31 safely returned to the home airfield.
"The flight of the Russian fighter jet was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace. Violations of the state border of the Russian Federation were not allowed, " the press service of the Northern Fleet reported.
I must say that such provocative raids near our borders are carried out by foreign planes quite often. They appeared not only over the Barents Sea, but also over the Black Sea, as well as on the Baltic Sea and in the Kamchatka region. In order to drive these planes away from the Russian border, interceptor fighters from the air defense forces on duty were lifted into the sky. Their crews acted harshly, but in strict accordance with international rules. All the incidents ended with the uninvited guests turning away from our border.
