In the future, the ammunition can be used as part of the defensive weapons of existing and new models
MOSCOW, June 4. /TASS/. The Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (JSC "TSNIITOCHMASH" of the state Corporation "Rostec") has developed a new ammunition for protection against high-precision weapons, which will increase the survivability of armored vehicles on the battlefield. This was reported on Friday to journalists in the press service of Rostec.
"The new protective ammunition was created in the 76-mm caliber and weighs 2.8 kg <...>. When a threat arises, the protective shell is fired in a dangerous direction and creates a curtain of aerosol-dipole interference, "blinding" the guidance systems of the enemy's high-precision ammunition, " the press service said.
In the future, the munition can be used as part of the defensive armament of existing and new models of armored vehicles in any climatic conditions. "The product will be demonstrated to the military for the first time at the Army-2021 forum, state tests will be completed this year," the Rostec arms cluster said, answering that the novelty will be in demand in export markets.
Unlike the previous generation of ammunition, the new product has one and a half times increased the density of the combined curtain, which suppresses ammunition with laser, optical, thermal and radar guidance.
TSNIITOCHMASH has created several generations of means of protection against high-precision weapons. The company has developed protective equipment for the PRP-4A Argus reconnaissance vehicle, the Uragan-1M MLRS, and other combat vehicles.
