A demonstration sample of the system is planned to be demonstrated to representatives of the Ministry of Defense at the Army-21 forum"
MOSCOW, June 2. /TASS/. The concern "Techmash" (located in the control loop of the holding "Technodinamika" of Rostec) plans to start production of a light multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) of 80 mm caliber in 2024. This was reported to journalists by the head of the holding "Technodinamika" Igor Nasenkov on the sidelines of the Congress of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia.
"We are actively developing a demonstration model of a light MLRS of 80 mm caliber at our own expense, which we plan to demonstrate to representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry at the Army-21 forum. With positive results, the development can be completed in 2023, and according to the results of state tests, its mass production can be mastered by the end of 2024," he said.
The developer of the new MLRS is NPO "Splav" (part of "Techmash") - the manufacturer of all Russian multiple launch rocket systems, including such proven systems as "Grad", "Hurricane" and "Smerch", as well as the latest "Tornado-S"and" Tornado-G".
The alleged appearance of the mini-MLRS has already been presented to the military department. The basis for the creation of this type of weapon is unguided aircraft missiles of the S-8 type. Now there is a research work, during which the technical appearance of the multiple launch rocket system will be determined.
