The Ministry of Defense has shown tests of a prototype self-propelled artillery installation "Bogdan" of Ukrainian production. The shooting took place at the Shiroky Lan training ground in the Mykolaiv region.
As reported on the YouTube channel Ukrainian military TV, the tests took place as planned.
The highlight of the "Bogdana" is the barrel of 155 mm caliber, made of Ukrainian steel on domestic equipment. It is adapted for firing ammunition of the NATO standard.
2S22 "Bogdana" - a promising Ukrainian wheeled self-propelled howitzer. The developer of the ACS is the Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant.
It was the Kramatorsk enterprises that developed and manufactured all the key components of the Bogdany artillery unit, including the barrel of the gun itself. About 10 defense companies are involved in cooperation.
The howitzer must provide a firing range of up to 40 km with a conventional projectile and up to 60 km with the use of active-jet ammunition.
The Bogdan must also have a digital fire control system and automatic loading system. This will ensure the mobility and speed of the combat vehicle and invulnerability from the enemy's return fire.
For the first time, this self-propelled gun was shown in July 2018, and on August 24 of the same year, "Bogdana" was flaunted at a military parade in Kiev.
