The engine will be installed on passenger and transport aircraft of local air lines
MOSCOW, May 31. /TASS/. The United Engine Corporation Rostec plans to create an airplane version of the VK-1600V engine developed for helicopters. This was reported to TASS by the general designer of UEC-Klimov (part of the UEC of the state Corporation Rostec") Vsevolod Eliseev.
"There is an application, the project of an airplane version of this engine - VK-1600S-is being launched. It is supposed to be installed on passenger and transport aircraft of local air lines, " he said.
Work on the VK-1600V engine began at the end of 2019. It is being created for the promising multi-purpose Ka-62 helicopter. Today, there are no domestic engines of this dimension in the country. The VK-1600V demonstrator engine is planned to be presented at the MAKS-2021 International Aerospace Salon.
