MOSCOW, May 28-RIA Novosti. Border guards during the upcoming command and staff exercise "West-2021" will work out the tasks of countering attempts by saboteurs and terrorists to get into the country from outside, First Deputy Director-head of the Border Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation, Army General Vladimir Kulishov, told RIA Novosti in an interview.
On Friday, Russia celebrates the Day of the Border Guard.
Every year, the border guards of the FSB take part in the training of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, conducted according to the plans of the Russian General Staff and the commanders of the military districts, the established system of interaction between the border guards and the Armed Forces allows us to successfully solve joint tasks to ensure the security of Russia in modern conditions, Kulishov said.
"So, in 2020, the border authorities took an active part in the strategic command and staff exercise "Caucasus-2020", during which they successfully worked out the tasks of identifying and preventing the penetration of sabotage and intelligence groups and terrorist formations across the state border, as well as suppressing their activities, information warfare and maintaining a favorable operational regime on the state border, conducting filtration and regime measures on the border territory. In 2021, similar tasks will be worked out during the strategic command and staff exercise "West-2021", - said Kulishov.
Thus, the existing system of interaction between the border authorities and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation allows us to successfully solve joint tasks to ensure the security of the Russian Federation in modern conditions.
The Russian-Belarusian exercises "West-2021" will be held on the territory of the two states, mainly on the Belarusian territory, from 10 to 16 September, under the leadership of the chiefs of the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of Belarus and the Russian Federation. It is expected that the basis of the "West-2021" will be one of the options for a gradual escalation of the military-political situation "around the conditional countries".
The exercise "Caucasus-2020" was held on the territory of the Southern Military District and the Black and Caspian Seas. About 80 thousand people took part in them, including employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Rosgvardiya, as well as up to 1 thousand military personnel from Armenia, Belarus, Iran, China, Myanmar and Pakistan.
