The press service of the Northern Fleet twice in the last two days reported a reconnaissance raid by a Norwegian military aircraft near our borders.
On Thursday, the message read as follows: "On May 27, Russian means of controlling the airspace over the Barents Sea area detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. To identify the air target and prevent the violation of the state border of the Russian Federation, a MiG-31 fighter from the Northern Fleet air defense forces on duty was lifted into the air."
The press service clarified that our pilots identified the alien object as the aircraft of the basic patrol aircraft P-3C "Orion" of the Norwegian Air Force.
A Russian fighter jet escorted him over the Barents Sea. And when the Orion turned away from the Russian border, the MiG-31 safely returned to the home airfield.
"The flight of the Russian fighter jet was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace," the press service noted. - Violations of the state border of the Russian Federation are not allowed."
Almost the same information was distributed by the press service on May 26. At that time, a Norwegian Orion was also approaching the Russian border, and a MiG-31 fighter prevented it from approaching our borders.
