"The analysis of military conflicts of the last decades, the experience of the development of the world's leading armies shows what a growing role is played by the effective use of, say, cruise missiles of various bases, as well as guided munitions. And it is important that our army and navy are sufficiently equipped with such modern high-precision weapons, " the president said during a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the heads of enterprises of the defense and industrial complex.
Putin recalled that the troops currently have and are entering service with the latest long-range cruise missiles "X-101", "Kalibr", ballistic and cruise missiles of the operational-tactical complex "Iskander", multiple rocket launchers, guided bombs of various calibers, which are not only not inferior in characteristics, but often surpass foreign models, and are unique in a number of indicators.
"This was also confirmed in real combat operations — during operations against terrorists in Syria," the President stressed.
In the coming years, it is important to maintain the necessary pace of production of modern strike weapons for their use and development during intensive combat training and training, the head of state said.
At the meeting, Putin also instructed to report on the extent to which enterprises are ready to mass-produce samples of modern weapons.
Earlier, on May 25, Vladimir Putin announced the completion of tests of the latest S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system (SAM), which is being prepared to be adopted by the Russian Armed Forces.
According to open sources, the radius of destruction of the S-500 is about 600 km. The system is capable of detecting and simultaneously hitting up to 10 ballistic supersonic targets flying at a speed of up to 7 km / s, as well as being able to defeat hypersonic missile warheads.
