The British destroyer was expelled from the territorial waters of Russia near the Crimea in October 2020, said on May 27, the first Deputy director of the FSB of the Russian Federation-the head of the Border Service Vladimir Kulishov.
According to him, on October 13 last year, despite the received warning about the inadmissibility of entering the territorial waters of Russia, the destroyer with a guided missile weapon D35 Dragon of the British Navy crossed the state border of the Russian Federation in the area of Cape Chersonesos in the Black Sea.
"In response to the demands to immediately leave the territorial sea of Russia, the captain of the destroyer stated that the signal reception was poor. As a result of joint actions with the Russian Navy and the Russian Aerospace Forces, the warship was expelled to neutral waters, "Kulishov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He stressed that Russian border guards are closely monitoring the" unfriendly " activities of Western partners near the Russian borders, aimed at demonstrating military force to deter the alleged "aggressive policy of Russia in the region."
Kulishov stressed that the Border Service is ready for various scenarios of the situation, including the prevention and suppression of provocations at sea aimed "at undermining the legitimacy of the legal regimes of the Russian waters and demonstrating disregard for the sovereignty" of the Russian Federation.
On May 16, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the forces of the Black Sea Fleet began tracking the actions of the British patrol ship Trent, which entered the Black Sea.
In April, the British edition of The Times, citing sources in the military department, told about Britain's plans to send two ships of the country's Navy to the Black Sea in May. According to the source of the newspaper, in this way the kingdom will show its support to Ukraine against the background of tension on the Russian-Ukrainian border.
