Roscosmos and CNSA announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation on the creation of an international station in early March

MOSCOW, May 27. /TASS/. Roscosmos and the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) have invited partners to the International Lunar Science Station (ISS) project and expect to receive a response at the Global Space Exploration Conference GLEX in St. Petersburg. This was reported by TASS Deputy General Director of the State Corporation for International Cooperation Sergey Savelyev.

"We have sent invitations to cooperate within the framework of the MNLS to a number of our respected partners, including, for example, the European Space Agency," Savelyev said.

According to the Deputy Director of Roscosmos, the invitations were sent starting from April of this year, when on the sidelines of the 58th session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the UN Committee on Space, the state corporation and the Chinese administration issued a joint statement on the station. "As part of the bilateral meetings on the sidelines of GLEX-2021, we plan to get the first reaction of our colleagues to the previously sent invitations," he added.

Savelyev added that the MNLS is open to all international partners interested in cooperation on the project, strengthening research exchanges and promoting the peaceful exploration and use of outer space in the interests of all mankind.

On March 9, Roscosmos and CNSA announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation on the creation of an international scientific lunar station. Russia and China plan to use joint experience and scientific technologies to create a roadmap for the construction of a station on the moon. Cooperation between the two countries in this area involves both the study of the lunar surface and the implementation of joint projects in the orbit of a natural satellite of the Earth.

The Global Space Exploration Conference was originally scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg on June 9-11, 2020, but was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. This forum is held annually in different countries. This year it will be held in St. Petersburg from June 14 to 18.
