TSAMTO, May 26. The 4th International Conference on Humanitarian Demining and Countering Improvised Explosive Devices has opened in the Moscow region on the basis of the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Center.
It is attended by delegations from 24 countries and 5 international organizations.
"The exchange of existing national experience in mine clearance issues will allow us to further parry the threats associated with it at a higher level, and to follow the main target priority of our work – the preservation of the lives and health of both civilians and sappers," said the head of the engineering Troops of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Yuri Stavitsky, opening the conference.
On the first day of the conference, experts will share their experience in the field of mine clearance and countering improvised explosive devices. They will also demonstrate the capabilities of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for training specialists in humanitarian demining, and will present samples of engineering weapons that are used in various conditions to clear the area of explosive objects.
The conference is attended by delegations from 24 countries, as well as representatives of international and non-governmental organizations, such as the United Nations Mine Action Service, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining, the Swiss Mine Action Fund, and the Mine Action Center of the Republic of Serbia.
Russia is represented by seven delegations from various ministries and five non-governmental organizations, according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Defense Ministry.
