Washington. May 26. INTERFAX-The United States does not yet consider it possible to withdraw its military from Syria, as they continue to carry out the main mission-the fight against ISIL (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), Pentagon press Secretary John Kirby told reporters.
"Obviously, it would be optimal if we did not need to keep anyone there, if there was no ISIS and therefore there would be no threat. But this is not the case that we are talking about today. Thus, they (the US military-IF) are still dedicated to fulfilling this mission... But as of today, there are no changes, " he said at a briefing.
According to Kirby, the US military "does not deal with other issues, broader issues inside Syria related to the civil war." They are there to fight ISIS, "and ultimately, it depends on the commander-in-chief how long they stay there."
