The Rocket and Space Corporation Energia suffered billions of dollars in losses in 2020. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the company's statement.
The enterprise engaged in the production of the Soyuz and Progress spacecraft suffered losses of 5.3 billion rubles in 2020. The report says that due to losses in the amount of 5,366,836 thousand rubles, RSC Energia, part of Roscosmos, recommended to the annual general meeting of shareholders not to distribute the net profit.
It is noted that the company closes with a loss for several years. If in 2019 the company's profit amounted to 48 million rubles, then in 2018 the loss amounted to about two billion rubles. In 2017, Energia reported a profit of 1.2 billion rubles, while in 2016 it reported a loss of eight billion rubles.
In particular, in May 2018, RCC decided not to pay dividends to shareholders based on the results of the previous year. The main part of the losses is related to the Sea Launch project.
In April, two criminal cases were initiated against unidentified persons from the leadership of the rocket and space corporation Energia [...] after the theft of 15.8 million rubles from Roscosmos.
