The State Corporation is working to promote virtual reality complexes with Lomonosov Moscow State University, other universities, Sirius ,and schools
MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. Virtual reality complexes that are being created at Roscosmos can be used in geography lessons using remote sensing data from space. This opinion was expressed by the director of the Digital Development Department of Roscosmos Konstantin Shadrin.
"The use of remote sensing data in VR complexes is one of the cases that started the life cycle of our platform in general. Now we are developing in the direction that students can study both geography and astronomy with their application, " Shadrin said in response to the question whether it is possible to upload remote sensing data into virtual reality complexes for use in geography lessons in schools.
As an example, the director of the department cited the project "Atlas VR", in which Lake Baikal, the surrounding area and other terrain were shown in a virtual reality helmet.
At the moment, Shadrin said, Roscosmos is working systematically to promote virtual reality complexes with Lomonosov Moscow State University, other universities, Sirius ,and schools. "In order for something to appear fully in the training program, we need an appropriate decision from the regulator (the ministry)," he added.
The creation of a virtual reality complex is engaged in "RK-Digital" (industry IT integrator of Roscosmos). Last year, a series of samples of virtual reality helmets of the Roscosmos XR-1 generation was developed. This year, it is planned to create a complex "Roscosmos XR-2" (the working name of the prototypes of the pre-production batch of sets of devices - "Sokol-1").
