According to the head of NASA, Bill Nelson, hurricanes have become more destructive due to the process of global warming
WASHINGTON, May 24. /TASS/. The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is creating a new Earth system observatory to predict and monitor climate change and natural disasters. This is stated in a statement issued on Monday by the press service of NASA.
"We will develop a range of programs to provide key information as part of efforts related to climate change, disaster mitigation, forest fire control, and agricultural regulation," the agency said. "Within the Earth System Observatory, each satellite will be unique to complement the others in creating a three-dimensional image of the Earth from the bedrock to the atmosphere."
According to the head of NASA, Bill Nelson, hurricanes have become more destructive due to the process of global warming. "Over the past three decades, a lot of what we've learned about climate change has to do with NASA research. The new observatory will expand this work, provide the world with an unprecedented understanding of the Earth's climate system, provide us with a new generation of data to mitigate the effects of climate change, and protect our communities from natural disasters, " he said.
