TSAMTO, May 24. The operation in Syria has helped to test many types of Russian weapons in real war conditions. At the same time, the identified shortcomings in some types of IVT should not be dramatized, since this is a natural process.
This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by the director of TSAMTO Igor Korotchenko.
As already reported, on May 21, as part of the marathon "New Knowledge", Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu said that the operation in Syria presented some "unpleasant surprises". He said that according to the results of combat use, almost a dozen samples of VIVT were removed from service, specifying that this applies to communication systems, electronic warfare, reconnaissance and strike systems.
"War tests weapons in practice, in real battles, and not in suitable conditions. This is a natural process, it should not be dramatized, " I. Korotchenko told RIA Novosti.
According to him, the operation in Syria once again showed that some of the Russian weapons need to be modernized and adapted to modern conditions, which was eventually done.
"According to the results of combat use and operation, it was concluded that a number of systems do not meet the requirements of modern military equipment, and a number of improvements were made in order to bring the weapons that are being operated into line with the needs of real combat operations," the director of the CAMTO added.
