In recent years, there have been more crimes committed using information and telecommunications technologies. And the detection rate of such crimes is still at a low level - no more than 25 percent. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia. Specific figures have also been released. Last year, a sharp increase in such attacks was recorded - 510 thousand, which is 73 percent more than in 2019.
And five years ago, such acts accounted for less than two percent of the total number of crimes committed. Such trends are associated with the active digitalization of society. And anonymity is only in the hands of attackers.
Today, we can already say that such illegal activities pose a threat to national security, said Andrey Nekrasov, head of the Main Organizational and Analytical Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the number of crimes in the IT sector has increased 10-fold over the past six years. According to the head of state, it is necessary to establish a clearer interaction of law enforcement agencies with the banking community, Internet service providers and mobile operators.
