London. May 23. INTERFAX-An amphibious landing group of US Navy ships, having passed Gibraltar, entered the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, British observers who publish their photos reported in social networks.
The group includes the aircraft carrier universal landing ship Iwo Jima ("Iwo Jima"), the landing helicopter ship-dock San Antonio ("San Antonio") and landing transport-Carter Hall dock ("Carter Hall").
On board is the 24th Marine Expeditionary Battalion, numbering about 2.5 thousand people.
The ships are currently heading east. It is expected that from the Mediterranean, they will then head to the Middle East in the Persian Gulf region.
